Peace Corps Gabon Reunion--2-3 Aug

Amicalola Falls was only a few miles down the road from where Buddy and the group of mostly RPCVs (returned Peace Corps Volunteers)/Gabon had planned on meeting and hanging out for the weekend.  Buddy served as Country Director from 1982-1988 in Gabon and many of the attendees were volunteers during that time (some from before).  The various 'jobs' during their service those many years ago were English and Math Teaching, Rural School Construction, Agriculture and Rural Fish Farming Volunteers.  The invited staff, volunteers and their families came from all around the world, including the US Virgin Islands, Jakarta, Indonesia, California, Texas, Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia and the DC area.

We met up on Friday the 2nd and enjoyed the 1st evening of introductions, catching up, drinking, having dinner and telling and sharing stories....

After breakfast on Sat, much time was spent deciding on who was going horse back riding, who was going hiking, who was going tubing and who was not doing any of those things....here are some of those decisive photos...

Buddy and Aly left on day 2 (before the reunion was actually over) to head towards the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and to continue our journey.  We are currently in a campground alongside the Valley River outside of Marble, North Carolina, stopping early enough to update our blog and get in some walking time with Gravy.

Here's to a 'Pas Mal' time with old and new and those already gone PC/Gabon volunteers, staff, family, friends, and loved ones...
